Institutional Activities

With the aim of underlining its role as an instrument for bringing together the production sector and Lombardy entrepreneurs to support the development of Lombardy, the Foundation has supported the effort of Italian institutions to promote the candidature of Milan as the headquarters of the European Unified Patent Court which, following the exit of England from the European Union and the formalisation of Britain’s abandonment of the unified patent system, will have to be transferred.

In September 2020 the Italian government formalised its candidature for the headquarters of the Court in Milan, underlining the relevance of the city as an innovation hub, and a meeting point between the academic sector, the entrepreneurial sector and research centres.

The Foundation immediately joined the technical table, with important stakeholders in the areas such as the municipality of Milan, Assolombarda and the Lombardy Region, and also at national level such as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The foundation also supported the Italian government in promoting the candidature of Milan to host EMA with a series of actions mostly of communication and support to international missions.
